The one thing I'm skeptical aboutin regards to the Mojos is that the aperture sight is so far forward. Aperture sights work best when mounted towards the rear. I probably wouldn't buy something like that unless I had a chance to try it out.

Well, next time I have a chance, I'll look carefully at my buddy's 98K. I've actually never payed attention to how the sight is fastened to the weapon.

I know that they are held in with pins on the 91/30. I would assume that I'd just have to punch out the pins and replace the rear sight unit.

FWIW, the Arisakas came with "middle mounted" rear peep sights... It worked for them.

On a mauser rifle, you just have to punch out the rear sight pin to remove the sight leaf. Here is an article from a website with pictorials to show you if needed. http://surplusrifle.com/reviews/mojot38/index.asp

What the article doesn't mention is how strong the Leaf spring under the rear site is. Once the pin is out, push down HARD to release the tangs from the site mount. Pull the site to the rear and it's out. I used a 1/4" square stick because it Hurt my finger to push that hard. Also I didn't want to scratch anything. Reverse the procedure to install the MOJO.

Be aware though that not all rifles have the pin. Of my 2 RCs, one had a pin, one did not. As strong as that spring is, the pin doesn't seem to be all that necessary.

The pin is there in case the spring breaks. The pin keeps the ladder from being lost.

I was thinking of replacing it with a K98 rear sight (which seems to have a better V), but the sight bases are different. Another plan is to widen the rear sight with a file and turn that small v into a |_| shape or just simply drill and tap that sucker for a scope mount.
Took me a while to get used to the sight system.

                      Rear sight = "v"

                      Front sight = inverted "v"

Together, level, and centered = "w"

Now, I have a problem getting used to the K31 sight!

I actually like it better (the Mauser style) if my Steyr M95 is any indication of how it works. Very nice for shooting at small things and my eye seems to want to align the three triangles evenly making it fast and easy for me to line the sights up.
