Where to get M1917 in .45 ACP?

Besides Gunbroker, are there any companies that sell these for reasonable prices?

There's a nice S&W 1917 at Ade's Gun Shop with factory letter for under a grand.

The 1917s are a bit of a tough find in CA. I've picked up one S & W and a Colt in San Fran area but it took time & some looking around. They are all over the place at out of state gun shows - saw many @ Reno & using my C & R bought an excellent reblue Colt for about $350.00.

I presume not wanting to buy on GB is because sight unseen on these guns can be a bit of a gamble. If you go out of state maybe a $30.00 C & R is worth it.

I see, so they're hard to find in the PRK but are relatively easy to find out of state. Do you know when the next Reno gun show is?

I picked up one in 2004 for 400, nearly new shape except for the grips. 45 Colt though, not ACP. Love the thing.

August sounds about right. You'll find them going anywhere from about $450.00 to over $1,200.00.

You might try Contra Costa Collectibles in Walnut Creek, Sacramento Armoury and River City Gun store in Sac. Sac Armoury is pretty good with prices. I've done quite a few deals there, never felt as though I paid too much. And some of the stuff they've tossed in as freebies - brand new Bianchi shoulder holster, some J frame square butt S & W target grips, some mag holders & such for my CZ 97 - would have cost me alot of extra $$$.

45 auto rim can be shot in any 45acp double action revolver.

OK, but mine is 45 Colt, not 45 ACP.

Keep your eye out for a Brazilian 1937 version. They came in years ago for a song. I paid all of $125 for mine in 1993. Aside from the Brazilian crest on the side plate and a 1937 built date, it's the same revolver.

                      I love mine.

I'd like to find a good deal on one of these 1917's too, I can always hope!

Was the 1917 pistol chambered in 45 Colt? I was aware of the M1909 and New service in .45 Colt, but not the 1917, however my knowledge is thin on these.

You can often also find them in .455Eley (for the British and Canadians), many of which were later converted to .45LC.

No .45auto rim does not work in .45lc chambered firearms. Yes the New Service was chambered in .45lc, I once owned one. The actual military issue M1917 I don't believe was ever chambered in 45lc.
