    Thanks
I must assume you bought this from an out of state FFL and want it shipped to you? Is it a handgun? If it's a long-gun greater or equal to 50 years old, then no CFLC number is required... It can be shipped to the address on your license.

If a handgun, then the handgun must ship to an FFL-01 CA dealer then transfer to you. For the out of state FFL to ship to the CA dealer, he needs an approval number from CA DOJ/BOF permitting him to ship the handgun. You must line up a CA dealer to receive it -- that dealer must send a copy of his FFL-01 to the sending FFL. It is the responsibility of the sending FFL to sign up with CA DOJ/BOF so he can get approval to ship.

Then he doesn't understand the law -- all he needs is a signed copy of your C&R license; and he may ship to the premise address on your license.

You'll have to convince him of that -- there is no way for you to get a CFLC number; nor can he using your FFL-3.

If you have a FFL-03 (Curio and Relic) and the item is a C&R long gun, he should act as he would for any other FFL-03. CFLC doesn't apply.

You can send him the link from this DOJ web page, item #4 http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/cflcfaqs.php#4

          Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

              Excellent Link, Milsurp.

The confusion is caused by a law that went into effect July 01 2008. The CFLC number is required for him to send any gun to a "California dealer" -- the CFLC system exempts transfers to C&R holders for C&R long-guns >50 years old.
