    CnRs and AB2531 law

I think this new Law going into effect July 1, 2008 will pretty much ruin the advantages of having a CnR license in California going forward.

Would you please post the applicable language in the law? From what I've read it only affects dealers and not collectors.

We've hashed this out hard in a previous thread.

It seems to only apply to retail, importers, and manufacturers. We C&Rs should be safe. It remains to be seen what happens to the other three though.

          The problem

If you buy a CnR Rifle out of state and want it shipped to you on your CnR FFL? you must be on the DOJ centralised list and the shipper also must be a FFL and has to contact our california DOJ and get a aproval number before he can ship the rifle to you. The state wants guns going to valid FFL's but this make it more difficult to bussiness with California and some will just say screw it.

if you're buying a C&R rifle from someone out of state, you shouldn't need to have it sent to a 01 FFL in california...

and "collectors" (people with a C&R license) are not regulated under AB 2531.

The only point that AB 2531 should effect C&R folks is if they *have* to have something shipped to a 01 FFL (like a pistol or rifle <50 years old). I don't know about you guys, but I've never had to have my stuff shipped to a 01 FFL...

              I hope you are right

I called the DOJ and its still being worked out. What she did say is that there is a exempt list but you still need a coe to be on it. I just have the CnR for now.

from my experience, the people who answer the DOJ phones don't usually know what they're talking about. I called them asking if my private pilot's licence can be used as "proof of residency" when buying a handgun, and they said sure! then i read the law, and realized it couldn't...

                just relax bro
