First time using my C&R, questions

So, I'm about to use my newly-issued C&R to order some more Mosin Nagants online, but I'm confused about a few things. Am I supposed to also get the CoE first, or is that unnecessary? Also, what happens to the 10-day waiting period? Finally, how should I deal with the whole lock/safe law thing?

Sorry about all the questions. If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty new to this whole collecting thing

no 10 day,no registration need, and no you do not need a coe for online orders unless the supplier demands one

Mosins are C&R and greater than 50 years old.

A COE is only useful if you are buying a C&R gun from a CA dealer, then the combination of C&R and COE waives the 10 day wait.

A signed COPY of your C&R is all that is needed to order a C&R long-gun, 50 years old or greater, and have it delivered to your door (The premise address on your license.)

You are responsible for securing your firearms; but how you do so, is up to you and your particular security situation... You don't have to buy a lock... But you must be responsible in the method of storage.

Remember, you must keep an acquisition and disposition log in a format defined by ATF.

Happy collecting, dystOpia!! Nice C&R goodies arriving at your doorstep is a good thing . . . I hear you're supposed to get copies out there to as many dealers (out of state) as possible as it takes them a while to set up an account for you . . . enjoy

          Yes and no....

If you buy a C&R from dealer stock (such as Big-5) there IS a 10-day wait, unless you have the COE.

COE is entirely in-state... there is no reason for an online dealer to demand a COE until AB962 goes into full effect next Feb, and then it only impacts handgun ammo purchases.
