    Tools needed for disassembling rifles

I would like to refinish a Turkish M38 and a M-N 91/30 that I have just acquired. I have just gotten started in acquiring some C&R rifles. What minimum tools do I need to take the rifles apart so that I can refinish the stock?

    Thanks.

A good set of gunsmith (Hollow ground) screwdrivers.

all you really need to dismantle them from the stock is a flathead screw driver

what I did for my mosin was clean off the laminate and stain with citrustrip:

then i soaked it in hot water to have dents in the wood pop out. let it thoroughly dry a couple of days, sand it with 200, 300, 400, and 500 sandpaper:

      Stained it

Coated with clear urethane (rattle can)

I can (and have) dismantle my 91/30 with the bayonet. Just be careful pushing/prying on the barrel rings so you don't gouge the stock. If you want to get the recoil lug out, I used a pair of snap ring pliers to turn the nut.

While you're in there, if it's a shooter, take the sear out and put a finish on it (where it contacts the bolt striker). Mine had marks that looked like a coarse stone in a bench grinder. Much cleaner trigger pull.

+1 was going to say the same. Good investment anyways.
