    Rebuilding sporter M1903

I just bought an M1903 made in 1918 with a serial # of 910xxx so the heat treat problem was already addressed with my receiver. I just want to know what the best way of restoring it is? The barrel is not original and is pretty used but has decent rifling and the stock is an after market sporter stock with no upper hand guard or butt plate.

If I buy a new production stock where can I find the metal parts?

Try CMP for the metal and other parts

In my opinion, you have a decent sporter/shooter - Sell it to partially fund buying a good as issued 03. You will end up spending more for a restoration than a decent 03 would cost. I presume there is no family or historical value to the weapon you have. My ha-penny

I got it for $175 so I don't have much invested in it. Maybe I should just keep it for now and buy an as issued 03 later.
