Well, it turns out that some rat bastard decided to bubba this P-27. The color is just too good and there are wood shavings in between the wood and the receiver, so that TOTALLY blows.
On the plus side, however, this gun has never been disassembled as the set screws are intact. The set screws are a late feature on the Finnish M91 but the barrel bands are of an earlier variety. To top it all off, it was put together in WW2.
I am kind of ticked about the stock being refinished as I am really looking to flip this gun and put money down on an M28/30 or an M28/76. I guess I shall have to see how my Gunbroker auction does.

That's a shame, it does appear to have been refinished. I'm confused how you can tell it's never been disassembled just by the screws being there... I've got quite a few M91s and all of mine have been taken apart, even the ones that have screwsWell, it turns out that some rat bastard decided to bubba this P-27. Also, how do you know it was put together in WWII?
Regardless of the refinishing, it's still a cool rifle and a collector's item for sure. Definitely not your average Mosin!!!NRA Life Member - CRPA Life Member - NRA Certified RSO - USN Veteran
I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I didn't fiddle with it, I just figured that the gun wasn't taken apart because of the screws. Er, whoops. That's a shame, it does appear to have been refinished. From what I have read, most of the P-series barrels were not assembled into rifles until the 40s due to disputes about their integrity. In addition, it seems that the spliced forend is indicative of a later assembly.
I am not sure about the numbering, but I think that my rifle is one of the last of the P-series. Only about 13K barrels were made and my serial is #13160.
I would REALLY like to talk to someone in Finland right about now
When I see bplvr this week, he will be able to let me know if the stock has been refinished or not.Comment

The stock looks refinished to me, but I don't think it would hurt value too much. It's still a rare, and difficult to find Finn.Originally posted by GoodEyeSniperMy neighbors think I'm a construction worker named Bruce.
