Question about M44 sling

Well, I just picked up a sling that was advertised as being for the M44. It is a sinlge strap of dark brown leather, 45" long, 1" wide, narrowing down to 11/16" wide at both ends and adjustment is by metal studs. It fits perfectly and looks good, but I haven't seen slings like this for the M44 before. I've been through the combloc sling guide at Mosin-nagant.net and I didn't see it. Anyone know where these are from and whether or not they are actually for the M44?

That isn't an M44 sling. The one you need is a dog collar sling. (Sorry, can't post pics , posting from my Blackberry)

Not an M44 sling. If you have the "dog collars" or something that can serve well in their stead you can certainly use that sling in conjunction with them.

Thanks guys for the replies. I am familiar with the standard dog collar slings for the mosins, and have one on my 91/30.

The tapered ends fit perfectly through the sling slots, and the length is perfect, so I might still use it. But if its not for an M44, anyone know what it is for?

I have a couple of Finn mosins that came with slings like that. Ask Vic over on gunboards for a definitive answer

Looks like an M39 sling.
