    Polish P64

I ordered a P64 from J&G sales the weekend before last. Sent my 03FFL and they lost it. Resent Last Friday and UPS just dropped the gun off. I have to say I was not expecting much because I didn't elect to pay for hand select and also based on feed back from others. I opened the box and I was shocked. This pistol has just a bit of holster wear around the front sight blade, but other than that, I thought I was looking at a brand new pistol. I ordered 3 extra magazines and they look as if they have never seen a round in them. The mag that came with the gun shows a minor wear pattern on the follower. You have to look very hard to see it. I'm impressed. I wish I would have ordered 2 or even 3. Now I have another reason to go to the range tomorrow.

J&G sent the pistol directly to you? Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all C&R handguns had to go through an 01FFL unless personally imported? I can't imagine J&G making a mistake like that...ooops. Now what? Do you send in the handgun report along with $19 to the DOJ, or call J&G and tell them they goofed ??

Or did you simply neglect to tell us that you actually have your 03FFL + COE and UPS just dropped the gun off at the dealer who is doing the transfer and you picked it up the same day?

a 03ffl+coe does not need a outside dealer, they can receive long guns and handguns directly, that is the purpose of the combo

Sorry, this is incorrect. All C&R handguns PPT'ed, or shipped from a CA or out-of-State FFL, still needs to transfer through a FFL01. The C&R/ COE merely exempts the holder from the 10 day wait and the 1 handgun per month restriction. You still however need to fill in a DROS form, so the handgun can be registered to the FFL03/ COE holder.

Bigthaiboy is right, a C&R handgun shipped to CA must still go through an 01 FFL, the 03FFL + COE just exempts you from the 10 day wait.

Yes, an 03FFL can directly receive longuns, but not handguns. The 03FFL + COE combo only exempts the holder of the 10 day wait to receive C&R firearms from a CA 01FFL. The COE is a CA DOJ thing, and doesn't get you squat from out of state dealers. ALL handguns (except those designated antiques)have to go through an 01FFL.

I was insinuating that maybe the OP had the 03FFL + COE combo and picked his P64 up the same day it arrived at the CA 01FFL dealer who received the transfer from J&G.

I do live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I ordered the gun via a phone call, they asked for a copy of my 03FFL which I sent twice, and I do not have a COE yet. It arrived UPS right to my door step. All I needed to do was sign for it.

Now what do I do? Am I allowed to take it to a 01FFL and file the DROS paperwork? I'm sure they will hang on to it for the 10 days.

Technically it needed to be transfered through a 01-FFL.

CA DOJ BOF "desk monkey" has said in the past that, when this occurs by mistake, to just send in a Curio & Relic Handgun Report with applicable fee ($19 per handgun) and they will notify the out-of-state dealer to not send C&R handguns direct to 03-FFLs in CA or face legal charges.

Drool! Nice purchase anyway. Let us know how it shoots! Heard grumblings about the DA trigger but I've been reading about fixes too.

Let me clarify that for you, I think that the person at J&G that sent you the pistol to your address in California on an 03 FFL is an idiot. I think that you are even more so an idiot for advertising on a public forum that you just used your 03 FFL to illegaly receive a concealable firearm in this state. Register the firearm but do not tell them the circumstance behind it, just state that you picked it up while you were out of state and are being a good little subject and are registering it and giving them their $19.00 ransom. Otherwise you are just drawing undue attention to your illegal activities, giving out of state vendors just another solid reason why not to do business in this state, as well as absolutely driving nails into the coffin lid of other California gun owners, 03 FFL's and collectors alike.

                              +1.

Fill in the form: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/curioapp.pdf that you bought the P64 from J&G in person while in AZ. A nasty letter from DoJ to J&G will only deter them from wanting to deal with Californian C&R license holders again. Probably a good idea to have a quiet word with the manager of the store to let them know that a mistake has happened, just so they are aware of it, so they can work out whatever it is that they are doing wrong. I'd send that registration ASAP first thing Monday.
