Information on the CZ-82 C&R Status

    Hello Everyone,

Sorry for taking so long to get this shared here, but attached is a PDF copy of a fax I received from P.W. Arms regarding the certification of the CZ-82 as a Curio & Relic. This means that it is now eligable for import and sale in California! Since the ATF has not updated their published list, you will probably need to show a copy of this letter to your 01FFL. Big Thank You to Zatoh and Grammaton for working with me on getting this done, especially Zatoh for providing a link to a website that eventually led to this fax.

    CZ-82 Certification Letter

These are available through numerous resellers right now, but you'll have to find one willing to remove the 12-round magazines when they ship them to you. AIM knocked $20 off my order, where as J&G Sales would not. Centerfire, MGS, SOG, and others supposedly have them as well.

There are factory 10-round mags in .380ACP for the CZ-83. Everything I've seen have said that they are the same as the -82 mags, and the Makarov uses the same mags for .380ACP and 9x18. I've not personally tested this yet, but I'll have some coming soon. Right now CTD has them as well as CZ-USA.com. They may be available elsewhere as well.

82 and 83 magazines work fine in either gun.

Nice guns, I already have a few from AIM.

Hopefully someone like Turners will bring some of these in to CA.

Thank you and you're welcome John.

My e-mail reply from Brian Welch of Cz-USA indicates that the Cz-82 and Cz-83 use the same mags.

Turners has said "No" according to PW Arms, they were surprised at that since Turners sold so many Bulgi Mak's a few years ago.

Yeah they got burned on that PW arms/Century arms deal it seems. Another reason for me to hate dealing with Turners. But the Bulgarian Makarov was a drop tested gun, the CZ82 is a C&R so I don't know why Turners is acting like retards about it. Maybe we can convince Ade to set up a group buy or get in a bunch of them.

Thanks to all who put in work for this to happen.

Do you have the full story on that Turners Makarov deal? I've heard bits and pieces but not anything areally authoritative. I assume you're refering to the way that Century has their name on the Safe Handgun roster but Turners was selling P.W. Arms imports.

I also tried to put some 9x18 in a 380acp mag. They fit fine but I could only muscle in 9 rounds in the 10 rd CZ83 mag though. Mag was brand new out of package though.

Anyone know why the CZ-82 was listed as a C&R and the PA-63 isn't? CZ's are just as plentiful, and newer. How is the determination made? (I know this is rhetorical as it's the government that decides).

A recognized museum requested that it be made C&R.

Does anyone know of shops in Southern Orange County that have CZ-82's for sale? Or is the best place to get them online? And if so what 01FFL in dealers are the best to go through for the transfer? Thanks for the Help

Most of the "normal" online places have had them recently, i.e. J&G Sales and AIM Surplus. Other than that it's any of your normal transfer dealers, I know Ade's has brought a few in (including one of mine).

It was the curator at the US Military Academy Museum in West Point. See the certification letter in the first post.
