    91/30 fresh vs. worn muzzle

I'm having trouble telling the difference between a fresh non-counterbored muzzle and a worn non-counterbored muzzle. I've seen the diagrams at http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinBarrel.htm, but I'm still not too confident.

Can anyone point me to some real-world pictures with examples of these two muzzle conditions?

Look on the left; since you've probably read up on what it is, you should be able to identify the recessed crown inside of that barrel.

I think most of it comes down to being able to see sharp corners on those 4 "notched" areas of rifling around the inside of the barrel and also whether there's a nice, sharp line around the barrel where the crowning transitions into the barrel tube or whether it's kind of worn smooth in places.

      Pronounced rifling....

and smooth rifling would look almost like the edges of the counterbored barrel rojocorsa posted
