Jason, THAT is what I like to see at the range! Shootin' "Old School".

I don't have anything quite that nice, but I can kind of relate since all my rifles are from the '40s and '50s.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Sweet rifles dude. I had a Swiss Vetterli for a while, but I ended up getting rid of it because I knew I would NEVER find the time to shoot it (i.e load for it).

So kudos to you for shooting it...

Although I must say- I'm guessing you are 'rounding' the date on the ol' vetterli (They actually started production of the M78 in 1879)...

If you want the REAL year it was made (assuming it was made at Waffenfabrik Bern)- let me know the serial and I can tell you

Nice catch. It's actually an M78/81, produced in 1883 but stamped M78. So, really should be 127, 53, and 97.

Challenging process to load for it...you'd have to load for a pinfire rifle to get more challenging I'd think. Had to machine a bullet swaging die set to get to diameter that my bore required. Shoots real nice, but the butt of the stock is shaped such that it's hard to get comfortable.

I always thought Its buttplate was rather comfortable- then again, I am somewhat odd like that
