Scoped M44 VS K31 which to get?

Ive been looking at C&R rifles in the $200 dollar range in for for sale section here. Ive found a M44 with synthetic stock scope and bipod for 200 and Ive found a swiss K31 for 225. Mosin ammo is cheaper and it has a scope on it(but Ive already bought and sold a mosin). I hear that the K31 is very accurate and I could put a scope on it if i wanted to later. So guys any help on which is the better buy?

The K31 is a great rifle. I have both a K31 and a M44. The K31 is well made, interesting because of the straight pull bolt and is pretty close to a match grade production rifle.

I have 2 91/30s, 2 M44s and 3 K31s. I'm willing to get rid of any of the Mosins at any time. I'm not willing to part with a K31 right now. So, you should buy the K31 and trade it to me for the Mosin of your choice. Hell, I might even include some ammo in the deal.

M44...Ammo is cheap and plentiful. If you are just shooting and care less about "collecting" get the M44. 1760 rounds of 7.62x54 is $190...Do the math and smile. The K31 is not shoot until tired gun. You will pay for the rounds dearly. Accuracy on the other hand is not a strong suit of the M44 but that depends on the gun. I have one that is a shooter and one that is just ok.

Some guys just go to range and shoot 20 rounds like I used to do with my XR100...If you are more into shooting and a lot get the M44.

I would go with the K31 for a few reasons. I'm a mosin collector, but the K31 is going to be more accurate and has more collector value. There is no cheap surplus 7.5 swiss because it's all match grade. Plus, $225 is a good price for a K31 these days.

The only reason I would buy the m44 over the K31 is if it was something rare, which it probably isn't.

Where in the world have you found this secret cache? I have not been able to find 7.62x54R for below 25 cents a round.

I'm not even sure how many mosins I have....6-7 I think. They are fun, cheap to shoot, and parts are easy to find. The M44 is cool to play with and plink on, but its not a gun I shoot for Accuracy. It's a big stick with a spike at the end that looks cool and goes BOOM!!! with a big flame at the end.

I don't own a K-31....I'd love to have one, but I just can't justify adding another caliber to my collection as long as I don't have all my reloading stuff set up. Once I'm reloading I may consider acquiring one.

What are you looking for in a rifle? Personally I have no interest in a modified M-44....So If I was to choose between the two I would go with the K-31...BUT....I Recommend Looking into the Finnish Mosin Nagant M-39. You get similar accuracy to that of the K-31 with the same cheap 7.62X54r ammo.

Yeah and don't forget the shipping. Please post where you found this ammo.

You forgot to add that it indiscriminately provides bruises to all persons which shoot the rifle (man, woman, and child alike).

Once you have a stockpile of 7.5 brass, it can be reloaded cheaply and easily. I started with 40 pieces of brass. A Lee hand press, a Lee primer seater, shell holders for both, dies, a scale, case lube, powder, primers, brass and bullets are all it takes. I can reload 7.5 Swiss cheaper and easier than I can reload or buy surplus 7.62x54R.

The K31 is really accurate and very nice to shoot. Granted ammo costs more with surplus around $.50, new PRVI about $.75, and up for more premium brands. If you want cheap to shoot go Mosin or Mauser. Do you want a scalpel or a machete?
