Get the heavy ball if you can. My 91/30 LOVES the Hungarian yellow tip.

Really can't go wrong with either, the Bulgarian is a good buy since it's brass not steel cased.

          Just avoid the Olympic stuff

Wideners has the Bulgarian HB, Czech LB and Hungarian LB if you're looking for more options

          btw...
I've got some Bulgarian LB I'd like to trade for Bulgarian HB if anyone is interested

I like the steel cased czech silver tip, but it is hard to find since everybody bought it up and it is steel core which limits it's usage on some public lands or indoor ranges with steel backstops.

Shooting a MN with full power ammunition at an indoor range must be a real experience!

I run silver bear through my M91/30. Its 203 grain softpoint, makes it kick harder, but it burns clean and is fairly cheap (300rnds for 100 bucks). Surplus is cheaper, but then you gota worry about what kind of primer it has.

I had a lot of customers shoot the Czech light ball and say they're having hard extractions...

It was pretty much designed to shoot heavy ball, but any 7.62x54r should work just fine.

ALL of my MN's love Hungarian light ball. Hungarian Heavy extracts worse than the Czech silver tip. I still have around 420 rounds of the Hungarian heavy because none of my rifles can work with it.

I need to man up and pick up another case Hungy LB.

i just got a 300 rnd case of light ball bulgarian 147grn ammo:

from aim surplus. i peeled the can, and most of the ammo has corrosion on it

think it's safe to fire? Nothing heavy, just light corrosion around primer and some on casing. I'll take pics tonight and post. I expected cleaner stuff - good thing I have 100 rounds of hungarian left over
