    Replacement K98 firing pin spring

Looking to replace my firing pin spring on my K98 to see if it will fix my problem with light primer strikes. For those of you who have done this....What brand/website has the best deal for quality/cost/shipping? Thanks.

      Replaced the spring, helped a bit . . .

Had the firing pin protrusion measured, within spec.

Then, narrowed it down to the '53 Yugo.

Have tried different years of the Yugo 8mm, the batch of '53s, have experienced that frequent incidence of light strikes, argh!

How many pounds should I go 22lbs or 24lbs? How much does it matter?

If it won't pop em with a 22lb spring, it won't pop em with a 24.

I took all of my K98k's to the range today to see which one is the most accurate before a competition at my gun club tomorrow. I used the same 1953 Yugo surplus ammo in all. One had several failures to fire, the others had no problems, and even fired the same rounds that failed in the gun with the weak spring. A standard spring in good condition can fire the 1953 Yugo consistently, but a standard spring that is worn out won't. The stock spring is 19 lb. so the 22 lb. should be more than enough.

The Wolff springs are available at Midway USA and Brownells for a little less than at Sporter Express

Brownells has been serving hunters, shooters, and first responders since 1939 and is one of the most trusted suppliers and manufacturers in the World.

The 52/53 Yugo 8mm is fairly notorious for ultra hard primers. I had some that repelled Wolff springs too.

I had the same problem, and the spring reduced the problem considerably, but did not eliminate it.

One thing I was not happy about is the trigger seemed heavier. It could have just been in my head though.

My best friend has had problems with 55 Yugo, actually. I figured more than anything that it was due to old-*** springs. I told him to get some Wolffs, and I'm sure he'll come around to that when he upgrades/refinishes.
