YAY! My first mosin is home!

After 10 long 24 hour periods I've added a new member to my family.

A 1943 russian 91/30. Picked it up from big 5 for $99, the gun is rough around the edges, but clean where it matters!

I detail stripped it and cleaned off as much cosmo as I could find, I then watched Enemy at the Gates. (lol)

What do you guys think? how did I do?

You can't go wrong with a Mosin. I have a friend I shoot with that has a 91/30. It's a tack driver and cheap to shoot. Have fun with your new rifle..

    A great link.....7.62x54r.net

Post some pictures if you get a chance.

What is a post about a "new" gun without some pictures?

Congrats on your new rifle though.

Sorry, I guess the pics were only showing for me.... can you see them now?

(of course a thread like this is useless without pics)

          I can see 'em.

          CONGRATS!

Gotta go watch the movie again and dream of future 91/30 purchase!

                  Nice rifle.
I trust you aren't thinking about stripping the stock or drilling for a scope mount?

I am. My iron sights are all messed up. It shoots way high at 100yards.
Might get a Monty Carlo stock too.

Now you need a carbine to go with it.

Shoots high at 100 yards, you say? What were those Russians thinking?!

Of course it shoots high at 100 yards. That's bayonetting range!

Congrats! Welcome to the addictive world of the Mosin-Nagant. Better make room for more of them. It won't be long before you feel the itch to buy another.

I actually just picked one those up myself a week or two back from Big 5, same price, probably from the same sale, but haven't had a chance to bring it out to the range yet.

Let us know how she shoots!
