CMP questions.

I understand i need to be a member of their program, I dont however know how to become a member. If it helps i live in Alameda county.

Also how does the buying process work? Would they ship it to my FFL(likely) or would they just FedEx it right to me?(seemingly very unlikely)

They ship it to your door

You have to be a US citizen, send a notorized order form into the CMP along with proof of safe gun use and or marksmanship and you have to be a member of a gun club of some sort. I joined the GCA (Garand Colectors Association) for the marksmanship component, the CMP has a form on their website that I had a range master fill after he watched me shoot. For the notary, I went to a UPS store.

I'm still stuck in the "getting my stuff notarized" stage. I've had too many damn projects to find the time to get it in...that and I'm broke right now. I'm ready for Bayonets though....I'm going to order as many as I can afford. We just got a house and It's been hard to get rifles and other toys past the girlfriends radar. We need all the spare money we can scramble up for closing costs. I just know that the bayos will be gone in a flash though...so I gotta start saving!!!!

My notary by the house was fascinated by the fact I could purchase a firearm with a notarized document. I explained that they are WWII surplus.

NRA membership does not meet the club requirement, but the rest is good. To meet the club requirement you can join

For notary, if you work in a corporate environment check your legal department. The admins/legal assistants/paralegals, etc. often have their notary commission to help them to complete certain documents for deal closings, leases, filings, etc.

My old company had a notary in legal and they didn't charge to notarize the document. That's back when each purchase needed a notarized document instead of the one being good for a few years.

Go for it, but beware of the warnings posted above - they're like Lay's potato chips 'You can't stop at one'.
