    CZ-82 mag question

Now that the CZ-82's are C&R, I wanted to pick one up. J&G says they will sell to CA but without the mag because it holds 12 rounds. Anyone know if they make a 10 round or less mag?

Be cautious, there is NO documentation out there to show that these are truly C&R, and therefor importable into California. Even if you go out of state and purchase one (having one shipped directly to you is probably not legal) you still have to report it within 5 days. What's DoJ going to say when it's not on their C&R list?

Not trying to be a downer on this, but I've been doggedly pursuing this as well. So far, not any luck on how to get one without raising some severe red flags at DoJ. If you can find a way to get them here let me know!

I have an email I have to find from DOJ. It says, as long as the fed's say it's c&r....so does DOJ. Is it actually losted on the FED c&r list?

Yes the State relies on the Fed. definition of C&R, and does not try to (re)define it themselves.

Is it actually listed on the FED c&r list?
No, it's not on their published list and that's the crux of the problem. Once we can get a document establishing that this is on the C&R list, we can have an 01FFL process a DROS transaction for us. (Remember that CA law does not permit an 03FFL to buy handguns directly)

It does if we buy them out of state and bring them back correct?

Correct, but if we're filling out that mandatory handgun registration thing and it's a pistol neither on the safe list nor on the copy of the C&R list that they've got (since it's been added but not promulgated yet)... that could raise some inquiries.

Yes, you must "take actual possession". That's the phrase in 12072 which governs these things.

Since it's not on the list if somebody did this they'd better be able to prove it's a C&R. Until somebody can show a letter or the list gets updated and published any of us with an interest in these are in limbo. (Doesn't this sound like Dec. 2005? Talk of lists being updated and promulgated, etc.!)

Are 10 round mags available though? Kinda makes the debate pointless if they aren't.

I believe so. The CZ-83 in .380 is on the approved list for CA so there should be mags available for that. Makarov's use the same mag for .380 and 9x18, presumably the same is true for the CZ-83. And supposedly, the mags for the CZ-82 and the CZ-83 are the same.

If that doesn't work, there's always the possibility of getting somebody to modify the 12-rounders as well.

Does anyone have an 83 that maybe could help us out with this question?
