Besides the Romanian stuff like AIM has, what other realitively plentiful, reliable, and inexpensive 8mm surplus is there? I've been hearing some bad reviews on the yugo stuff because of stiff primers.

That I know of only Yugo or Romanian 8mm its the only easily attainable surplus at the moment. I dont have problems with 8mm Yugo my FN49 and K98 shoots fine. Upgrade you firing pin spring if you rifle is having problems.
I have Turkish, Egyptian, Ecuadorian, and Portuguese 8mm as well. Portuguese is the best because its non corrosive. You can find Turkish at gun shows usually in bandoleers and Egyptian in boxes with hajji writing on it. I dont recommend they be used in a Semi autos only in bolt action rifles. I also doubt you will find them cheap as people think they are worth gold when they aren't. You can also buy new production 8mm and reload. I use new ammo when I am too lazy to clean.

turk ammo is great if you have a turk mauser, or any Gew 98 variant, persian, czech, etc....yugo and czech ammo is great in the semi-autos, very consistent and not likely to blow them up. all depends on what you're firing it out of.Comment

I've been shooting the Yugo stuff. It functions perfectly in my 98K, though it is definitely corrosive so make sure you clean appropriately. It's not terribly accurate but I wouldn't expect it to be. For the price, it's great.Last edited by reidnez; 05-31-2010, 10:28 AM.Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. -Andre GideComment

Do not use the early 50's stuff in a semi auto. BAD THINGS can happen. http://gk43forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6738
I had a case head inclusion cause a massive failure and from what I was able to gather its much more common in the early stuff.Comment

I have a mess of '42 Turk for sale. $240.00 per 1K. I'll break up the stuff in lots of whatever size you want. Some are on strippers, some are loose. Price is plus shipping but FTF is preferred. I'll pe putting it up in the ammo for sale forum with pics soon.Choices always were a problem for you, what you need is someone strong to guide you...like me!Comment
