    SKS issues?

Ive had a yugo SKS for some time now, and have fed it all types of Wolf ammo.

in my haste i did a quick clean job not my usual best.

out of 10 rounds I would get a Failure to extract or failure to fire scenario...

any ideas as to what may be causing this?

    First guess -- dirty chamber.

My yugo was having the same problems when I first got it. I had to put in a new gas selector valve and that solved the FTE issues. Many yugos have a problem there as military yugo ammo is corrosive. I also had a problem with FTF after I put in a lighter weight hammer spring to help the trigger pull. Trigger was much better but would only fire on the first strike half the time. You may want to pull the firing pin out of the bolt and make sure it is not bent or damaged also.

I have found that the "bear" lines of ammo are much more reliable in my yugo. You should be able to get some Brown Bear ammo for the same price or cheaper than Wolf.

My Yugo M59 had some of cosmo in the gas tube and was single shot. It wasn't on the piston itself but on the tube. Once I cleaned that out it shot great. Too bad the bore is shot though b/c it's a reliable but key holing shooter.

In short, check to make sure that the gas piston moves freely in the gas tube.

            Is it a 59 or a 59/66?

                Yes it is the 59/66
                try this

I agree with the Barnaul (Bear line). Just runs better for me.
                YMMV.

Cosmoline in the gas system or a dirty chamber. Clean both.

Maybe when you cleaned it you messed it up.

Alright so update: cleaned her thoroughly and after about 100 round I started to have similar problems. Im starting to think ammo may also be a factor? these were a combo of Wolf and low no name brand 7.62 I got from a buddy of mine. can that be an issue?

It was designed to run on dirty comblock ammo, so I suspect another problem.

You are having two problems, right, failure to extract fired cases, and failure to fire, the round feeds fine but no boom? Is there an indentation on the primer on the rounds that do not fire?

thats true, well this time I had failure to fire the rounds that fed right. I didnt check it (ill make sure to do it next time) but at one instance the it fired and then the primer got blown off the casing.
