    C&R license question - DROS

    Hi,

    I don't seem to find the answer to this question from any reliable source, so I might as well ask it here. This site's been more reliable than most official sources, anyway.

    When I have a C&R FFL, I understand that I still need COE to be able to forgo the 10-day wait. What about DROS? Does the C&R long gun I'm buying in person from a local store still need to be DROSed? After all, this doesn't happen when I order it online from another state. For that matter, if I buy it online from a CA store, it won't be DROSed either, nor will there be a 10-day wait, right? WHat am I missing here?

    Thanks,

    As I understand it ::

    The gun shop ( Dealer) has to Record ( Record of Sale ) any sales out their door / No Matter Who , When , where, why ....Ect ....

      Remember that most gun-control laws apply to sales and other transfers.

        Yes, the California licensed dealer has to DROS C&R firearms that he transfers to a California C&R FFL, even if the California C&R FFL has a COE.

        Interestingly, a California licensed dealer does not have to DROS C&R firearms that he transfers to an out of state C&R FFL, even if the transfer takes place at the dealers shop in California. There is no 10 day waiting period for this kind of transfer either. The out of state C&R FFL doesn't need a COE.

          Thank you for the info. I should've known better than to apply logic to gun laws.
