New guy here, got a question about 1903/38 turk mauser...

i've got a turk mauser, k.kale edition, 1903 model rebuilt in 38, i think. The problem I have is that the firing pin is worn down, so half the time I get a nice dent on the primer cap, and no detonation. Any idea where I can pick up a mauser firing pin/bolt assembly locally in bay area?

You may just want to try a Wolff firing pin spring (22 pound) I think. They seem to do wonders on primer ignition. Its worth a try

Have you checked you pin protrusion? Remove and de-cock the bolt. you should be able to see about the width of a dime sticking out +/-. also make sure the inside of the bolt body is free of any cosmo/crud, that might be holding back the pin. Stevie is right, usually the problem is the tired old spring. Especially if your shooting surplus ammo with real hard primers(yugo).

      good luck

yeah, the spring has lots of tension on it. I've thoroughly cleaned the bolt and fully disassembled it. I'll double check the protrusion, and I suspect that's the main problem.
