Received CMP HXP Ammo Today, buuuut ...

Ordered two cans of the HXP M2 Ball in en-bloc clips. When I opened one to take a look at them (and prep for shooting later today), I noticed something a bit strange ...

Here are pics of the cans for those who might be interested.

Welcome to the world of 30-06, or as NATO says - 7.62x63 (7.62x51 is the .308).

              The M1 Garand is a man's gun!

As for the what's up, the only ting I can guess would be that we can still get surplus, non-corrosive 30-06?

Looks like the can was opened without the key (still attached at the spot weld to the top, I think, from memory of my cans and looking at the pics).

Assuming the first pic of the can is prior to opening, I also don't see the perforation/tab for the metal strip that the key removes.

If so, that would have been unfun to get into in, say, the event of a MZB attack.

Clips are supposed to be loaded with the top round on the right, correct? These are all lefties!

Looks to me the bottom of the enblock clip is smashed or nicked or damaged in some way.

You can load them whichever way you want. It doesn't affect feeding or reliability in any way.

Top round on the right is how I do it, but the Garand will usually feed either way just fine.
It just seems easier for a right hander to load if the top round is on the right.
I do know Lefties that load clips with the top round on the left and have never had a problem with the rifle chambering the first round.
If I remember correctly, the CMP manual says left-handed shooters can load in this fashion.
You will be fine the way they are, but if it bugs you, just reload the blocs.

As a lefty shooter who has had quite a bit of time behind the M1, I can tell you I've never even looked at wether a round was loaded on the left or right of my clips when I loaded them.

Never had a problem with the M1 functioning at all. In fact, I've never had one of my M1s malfunction

I know it will function just fine either way - just everything I've read states top round on right. I thought it surprising to find factory loads the other way.
