    CMP items.

OK so I know that you sign something syaing that you're not going to resell a CMP item. However I'm sitting here as a (legal) immigrant and I cannot join the CMP even though I have a C&R license and it's killing me. Is there anyone who would be willing to buy a CMP M1 Garand / Springfield 03 / Model 1917 through the CMP and sell them to me as a C&R?? I'm in San Francisco so this area for face to face purchase would be good. PM me and I promise not to tell anyone.

If you want a Springfield 03 or Model 1917, you would be better off looking for one on the board. CMP is out and has been for a while.

I would also check the board, there are CMP rifles on there on occasion.

You might not want to go down that path of asking someone to buy it for you, as there are legal implications for that person. Its called a straw purchase, where someone says they are buying it for themselves, when they are really buying it for someone else.

Yes I considered that. Just super frustrating to be a C&R authorized yet can't get my paws on a CMP Garand.

Why not just join the Grand collectors Association. The GCA electronically sends their members names to the CMP and it is all that is required to purchase a rifle.

The OP has stated that he is not a US citizen. The CMP charter only allows them to sell to Citizens of the United States. His problem has nothing to do with not being a member of an affiliated club.

These special affiliates include: Congressionally chartered veterans' organizations such as the VFW, AL, DAV, MCL, etc. U.S. Military services (active or reserves), National Guard, to include retirees. Professional 501(c)3 law enforcement organizations and associations such as the FOP, NAPO, NSA, etc.

Note: Club membership IS required for purchase of rifles, parts, and ammunition.

Club membership is NOT required for instructional publications or videos or CMP memorabilia.

NOTE: Proof of marksmanship activity is not required for purchase of ammunition, parts, publications or memorabilia.

Be Legally Eligible to Purchase a Firearm:
The information you supply on your application will be submitted by the CMP to the FBI National Instant Criminal Check System (NICS) to verify you are not prohibited by Federal, State or Local law from acquiring or possessing a rifle. Your signature on the Purchaser Certification portion of the purchase application authorizes the CMP to initiate the NICS check and authorizes the FBI to inform CMP of the result. IMPORTANT: If your State or locality requires you to first obtain a license, permit, or Firearms Owner ID card in order to possess or receive a rifle, you must enclose a photocopy of your license, permit, or card with the application for purchase.

There are plenty of CMP Garands & Carbines in the "For Sale" section here. Many people even provide the CMP certificate with the sale. Browse through 5 or so pages of the Firearms Sale section and you will find several.

                Also, try here:

This is the CMP forum. Members have private rifle sales there as well.

You can get your hands on a CMP rifle!
