    Vz24 refinished.

I have a Vz24 that I really liked (shot well for me) so I went ahead and refinished it with some tongue oil, semi gloss, and was quite pleased with it. Oh, please disregard my beat up blinds. For some reason my kids think its better to fold 'em back than raise 'em to look outside.

Wow, that looks really nice! I really like the striping of the wood. Was the stock full of cosmoline and oil? If so, what method did you use to get it all out?

I recently got a VZ24 that looks like it is straight off the battlefield of its third or fourth war. Nearly no bluing left, the wood is dark, dented and full of oil. It has great character so I don't want to refinish it, but I would like to pull some of the oil and cosmo out without damaging the wood. I've already spend hours with a heatgun and the stuff just keeps on coming.

If I had room to build one of those trash can heaters, I'd seriously consider it. maybe I'll just have to wait until the height of the summer months and use the sun to cook it out.

It had a fair amount of stuff on it but not a really excessive amount. I just used klean-strip stripper and it got all of the nasty out that it had.

I have a Romanian contract VZ-24 as well, wish mine was half as good looking as yours. But like Savasyn said it has a lot of character. Besides, I only paid 80 bucks out the door at Big 5 for it and it's a great shooter.

Nice job, man. Very subtle work on the wood and it looks really great.

Honestly I didn't take any, my projects usually don't turn out this good.

**edit** found the sole pic in my collection of prefinished state.

That's some beautiful wood. What type of wood did the Czech's use to make these? It almost looks like arctic birch. Very nice rifle.
