    Just ordered from CMP

I just sent in my forms for a SA Garand Special Grade, and I'm sure before the year's end I'll have a couple service grades on the way too.

As I clean up my CAI stamped Garand, I don't feel as bad as I did when I first got a good look at it - throat gauges at 3, muzzle is at 2.5, and the "fuzzy" I saw in the barrel doesn't seem to be pitting but cosmoline. Since it's a 1943 receiver, I'll make it my project rifle, and use the special grade for shooting.

A Special Grade should be one fine rifle Once A Marine.

    Congratulations!
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

      Congrats on both rifles.
The re-import might turn out to be a great shooting rifle with thousands of rounds of life left in it.
