    M1 carbine

Where is the best place to get a really cheap M1 Carbine for general shooting purposes? (I don't care about historical accuracy or anything, just want a cheap M1 Carbine to shoot)
I have a general disdain for the AR-15 rifle and any neutered, useless, anemic, POS that no real man would call a rifle.

might work a lil better if you post your location.

I'd recommend the CMP beginning 4/30/07.
You'd be hard pressed to find a carbine in CA for less.

Hey has anyone found out fi these will come with the Bayonet lugs or not? Also has anyone found any barrel bands that do not have the bayo lug on it and any WWII style flip sights? I am thinking of getting one of the CMP's and converting it to the true WWII formation. I am trying to find parts Cause I don't know if I am going to do it to my Inland or a CMP rifle.

most if not all the CMP carbines will have the later adjustable rear sights as well as the type III bands.. real GI flip sights will run you $120+ and a real type II band will run you $75+

The flip sights and bands appear on E-bay from time to time.. but you have to be REAL careful as fakes abound on E-bay!! The Jouster (CSP)(www.jouster.com) site is a good place to find them on their for sale forum.. or post a WTB in their WTB section...sometimes Orion7 gets in those rare Carbine parts
(www.m1garandrifle.com) Bill Ricca sometime has them as well (www.billricca.com) avoid Riverbank Armory like the plague!!!! he sells humped (fake) parts and you will get taken!!! Yes he does sell the real deal once in a blue moon but unless you know what to look for you will get suckered by his fake stuff.......

thank you for the pointers. I was thinking of using River but I think I will avoid them for now. also any good sites with complete m1 carbine stocks? I want to set mine aside so it won't get cracked any more than it already is.
