    Just bought a Turk M98 / gew 98

I just picked up a Turkish 98. Don't know anything about it. I will post pics when I get back from Montana on Tuesday. I will be traveling to the land of the free for a few days!

Anything I should pick up and bring back? LOL kidding people, don't send me a shopping list.

I just paid 80.00 for it and its kind of rough but its my first C&R foreign rifle.

    Did I get hosed?

    Its a 1941
    Serial number 51xxx
looks like it was imported by CAI (?)

The upper handguard has a cutout for the rear sight to stick through, right? In other words, there's wood behind the rear sight?

I love my turk and its ugly as hell. 8mm used to be dirt cheap 3yrs ago, now its pretty scarce, the turk ammo is all gone and the romanian is drying up too

when more comes in you should blast that thing away, its real fun and accurate.

8mm is hardly rare, and if you want Turk ammo, I'll sell you about 50 rounds I have for the right price. LOL. Any way. I was not aware of a Turk 98. Only Turk 93, and Turk 38, which is what I have. Go to Grafs.com, or ammunitionstore.com to find cheap 8mm. As far as I know they still have it. Shotgun News has deals on 8mm as well, though not as many as they do for 7,62x54R. None the less, I don't see us paying 23.99 for 20 round of 8mm for a while. Relax.
