Problems with M1905 Bayonet grips

Picked up some USGI grips (supposedly USGI...Can't find any markings to prove it) for a 1918 RIA Project. They don't fit. I compared the handle to a M1905 PAL trench bayonet I have dated 1942 and the handle is a different size towards the end of the handle. What's up? Did the grip sizes or handle sizes vary on different years or armories which produced M1905's? Maybe some of you experts can help me out. Thanks.

Different makers had slightly different sized pommels on their bayonets. Chalk it up to manufacturing differences.

I've been trying to find info on it online but I can't find anything.

Not much help but, I checked about 8 bayonets in my box, various years 1905 through WWII - All bayonets were a straight cut at the hilt - as yours - however, some of the plastic grips were angle cut as yours -- in fact the plastic were all only a fair fit on most and often differed from left to right. Since they are molded that would not be unreasonable that the molds differ. All the wood were a good fit --
