    Curio & Relics In Action

So went down to visit a friend in Bakersfield and he took me to a spot to shoot, so I brought some of my wares, pretty nice location with about 200 meters distance to work with. Place was a mess, this is a location certainly in need of a clean up, we did our best to tidy up after ourselves. Yes, you hear ricochets, lots of concrete chunks down range, luckily none came back to bite.

Was using Ingman 7.62x54r for the SVT, and Russian 80's surplus for the 91/30. For the Garand and Johnson I was using the Greek .30-06 on en blocs and loose. For the the G43 I was using factory 8mm, forget the brand but it's recent production and then for the K98K I was using surplus forget the country.

First set is shooting the SVT-40 and M91/30.

Second set is shooting the M1 Garand and M1941 Johnson.

Third set is shooting the G43 and K98, I lost the bolt hold tab off the bolt carrier, G43 is very fragile but sure was fun to shoot.

Just a question, whos bright idea was it to be standing down range when the other is shooting, doesn't seem to safe to me.

My buddy and I recently went shooting and he shot corrosive yugo ammo through his Mosin and figured he could just piss in the barrel and call it a day. Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

I knew that would come up and I will defend the actions as being safe, while from the camera perspective it doesn't look like it. However, Jacob was standing practically 8-10' below me as I stood above on the levy or fill if you will and he was slightly offset to my left and right.

Glad you guys liked the videos, the G43 is a touchy one to fire, don't think I'll be shooting it again anytime soon due to it's sensitive nature with parts coming loose.

                Nice videos!

Do you have a shooter's kit installed for the G43? Cause original parts suck to break.

Negative on the shooters kit, I'm trying to remember the name of the company, could you refresh my memory?

If I can get my hands on the bolt stop and spring, I'll be okay. I didn't flare out the pin that holds it in place enough and it flew out when we were shooting it.

My friend was upset and offered to buy a replacement, I said that happens no sweat, part of the risk one takes in shooting these types of weapons.

Very nice! You don't see the Johnson rifle too often, it's a pretty cool design for its day.

I have a Mitchell's as well. Yeah, if I'd have done my homework I would not have bought it...but all historical value aside it's still a great-shooting rifle for the money, and you can still get decent-priced 8mm. I'm planning to blue the bolt and darken the stock to "re-authenticate" it a little.
