Whats a good .22 for my son thats C&R?

My son has a Marlin 795. He loves it but today he got to shoot a Marlin Glenfield Model 20 bolt action. I like that it shoots .22 short, long, and long rifle. I found some Model 25's on GB for about $100 but they arent C&R so I have to drive 70 miles twice and pay $25 for DROS blah blah blah now the $100 rifle is $200+
Is there any .22 bolt actions that are C&R that shoot the above mentioned rounds that wont break the bank? Might just go to Bass Pro and get him a Marlin 981T if they have em.

a lot of Sears-Roebuck and other "Catalog" guns available. You'd have to search diligently to find them though. These were guns manufactured by major name for the purpose of selling them through old catalog stores like Sears and Macy's. Often, they are C&R applicable since it has been a very long time since you can order a gun off a magazine without paperwork.

I myself started with a Sears Roebuck 102-3 AKA, Marlin 80. Found it in a local store.

I have a Remington 511 Scoremaster. It's a magazine fed bolt action rifle chambered for .22 s,l, or lr. These were made from 1939-1963. Mine was made in 1949 and I picked it up at a local gun shop for $140.

I grew up shooting a little Winchester Model 62 pump .22. Nice rifle that my daughters get to learn how to shoot this year...

I have a Winchester 72a. It's bolt action with a tube magazine. Short, long, or long rifle. I paid $100 for mine, and it is damn accurate.
The 67 and 69 are similar, except one is single shot, and I think the 69 uses a clip magazine.

I have a Winchester model 67, single shot bolt action - fires short, long and long rifle. Great for kids as you must manually cock the striker before firing, almost like a built in safety.

The Remington 500 line - 510, 512, 513 and the Winchester line all using the same basic action - 69, 72, 75 - are almost all C & R. You can still score a 75 at a good price.

There are all sorts of Sears, JC Higgins knock offs out there too.
