    1903a4 not C&R?

Since the receiver is the firearm, and is in military configuration, why would these not be C&R? The WW2 receiver meets the criteria for C&R. So what if it's rebuilt. It also meets the collectability criteria.

I know AIM can sell to whomever they want.

Could it be that it's not in the original stock/military configuration, hence no longer C&R?

So both rifles are 50+ year old receivers with new barrels and wood, configured to military as issue and one is C&R and the other is not?

I'm sure no one would question C&R status on a second sale of this rifle.

I think AIM is over cautious on the C&R rules.

Aren't those 1903A4s built from reweld or drill/parade rifles? I don't remember the exact circumstances but some company out there (Gibbs?) was/is making replica 1903A4s and there was word that they were re-welded receivers. Maybe someone knows what I'm talking about and that process may have knocked them out of C&R status.

Yeah I heard they were reclaimed drill rifles. Interesting to see how that would effect the strength and accuracy of the rifle.

That stock looks like it might be brand new.

It's not clear to me from the AIM listing that the receiver is actually an original.

I think it has to do with these being originally 03a3s not 03a4s so they are not in their original condition.

This always confuses me. I can understand a <50 year old gun being bubba'd and lossing C&R statues. But, if the gun is 50 years old or older, how can changing the stock, barrel, sights, TP holder or whatever take it out of C&R statues? It would still qualify as a 50 + year old C&R, wouldn't it? I realize that using the action as a host to manufacture a new style of firearm would be an issue (making a new SBR, SBS or AOW from a 50+ year old action) but, how can changing accessories while keeping it in the same classification of firearms end up affecting it's C&R statues?

correct me if i'm wrong, but if another mfg. purchased a bunch of actions and put new a barrel, stock mounts and scope to make a 03a4 clone wouldn't that mfg. have to put his info on the rifle then making it a new manufactured rifle?

It can be C&R by virtue of age OR by virtue of its collectability

If it is C&R by virtue of its collectability and NOT its age, then altering it from the original configuration changes things...

If its over 50 years old... then it is C&R... period.
