Are these guns better than the Mosin Nagants they sell?

If you mean a better gun model wise, the mausers have much better triggers and worse sights. Yugo mausers are usually better fit and finish than round receiver Mosins. If you mean condition, I dunno without looking, but there are many many yugo mausers still available in nearly unissued condition. Ammo is nearly as cheap as the 7.62x54.

Heck, go shopping and find out!

The ammo may be cheap if you like to use corrosive ammo. If you want good accuracy buy good ammo, i.e. PMC etc.

So, without having a COE I am better off buying a hand select from J&G sales?
                  Thanks

                    from Big 5:

                    gun price
                    +tax
                    +$25.00 DROS
                    +10 wait
                    = your figure

                    from J&G:

                    gun price
                    +shipping
                    +wait for shipment to arrive
                    =your figure

                    Which is it?

I guess time is on my side. Its always nice to see a product in your hands before you buy it. But the entire point of the CR was to not drose, wait ten days, or pay Ca sales tax. I am fine with waiting this one out. Thanks for the suggestions and help.

I have been well pleased with the "standard" rifle J&G sells, hand select price I hear is not really worth it. YMMV

I have purchased 6 rifles sight unseen from J&G, they have all been the "standard" non-hand select. I have also purchased one MO marked from the collector's corner. I am happy with all my purchases to date.

But, as I said, your mileage may vary.

And a 10% discount if you use the curent coupon that Big 5 has out now...and 20% off on the same coupon for non sale items. I say go to Big 5 and pick the one you want and wait the 10 days.
