    C&R - Certification to citizenship

On the C&R renewal question 6, it's asking for a certification to citizenship.

What can I use, a birth certificate and can it be a xerox copy or must it be a certified copy with the official stamp? If so, is a notarized copy fine?

What other documents can be used?

    Thanks.

I've never renewed; but the original Form 7CR does not require a document to show citizenship. In section 10, the 7CR asks about citizenship; and a citizen just writes US Citizen on section 10 of the 7CR and that's it.

Reread the question to see of it isn't asking "Person certifying compliance with citizenship"

      You're correct.

They include a additional Certification of Compliance form asking citizenship and a required certification signature.

That's form 5330.20 -- on initial application, section 10 integrates the 5330.20 into the 7CR Form.

You are basically just certifying yourself as a US Citizen (assuming you are one).

I'm a US citizen and left section 10 blank when I filled out my form, is this correct or did I need to fill it out?

            I think that's OK.

I just write US Citizen and put an N/A in all the fill-ins for section 10 -- just to cover the bases.
