    C&R PACKET

I just got my C&R packet in and I am filling it out. Enclosed in the packet is a fingerprint card. There are no instructions for filling out this card. Do I have to submit prints and if so, who do I go see to get it done legitimately?
Also a copy of the ATF 7CR has to go to the local CLEO. For me that is the Chief of Police in San Diego. I like to think that he has better things to do, so do I just hand it the front desk sergeant and hope that it gets routed properly? Any info will be appreciated.

I believe ATF made a mistake, you do not have to fill out the fingerprint card. I would recommend just mailing the form the the CLEO (Chief Law Enforcement officer) of San Diego and just save yourself a trip.
Life is like having a map with precise directions and exact stops, you find out that your directions and stops change as you progress further down your original map.

I got the fingerprint card as well and nowhere in my packet did it say to send it in so I didn't. I mailed my copy of the address for me CLEO, don't bother dropping it off.

BTW this is my second time around sending in for an 03FFL, I accidently let the 1st one lapse.

I added a cover letter to the CLEO explaining that he need take no action. Plus I sent it certified mail and retained the postmarked receipt as proof of mailing.

Yeah, no fingerprints for a C&R -- if you apply for a CA COE then you get printed; but they use live-scan not 10-cards and ink.

Here is what I did for a cover letter:

          (Date)

          (Your Name)
          (Your Address)
          (Your Phone Number)

          (CLEO's Name)
          (CLEO's Mailing Address)

          Dear Chief (CLEO's last name):

Enclosed please find, as per federal regulation, a copy of my ATF Form 7CR. You are not required to take any action with respect to the enclosed form. If I can be of any service, or if there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the address above.

          Sincerely,

          (Your Name)
Stick it in an envelope with the form, addressed to the CLEO and drop it in the mail.

It's the Gubment. It's all coming back to me now. They are getting rid of old forms and this is the way to do it. Ever get issued superceded uniform items in boot camp, where you had to replace said items yourself out of your own pocket later on? Same thing. I remember a buddy of mine getting a couple of khaki shirts (outdated uniform item) and he was bummed out because the rest of us were getting the new 'mint green' shirts.

CLEO's just get the copy for their records, they don't have anything to do with you getting your C&R unless they know of a reason you shouldn't be eligible. most CLEO's probably wont actually see it, it just gets put in a file.

I sent away for a packet twice (the first one got ruined ) and neither had a finger print card.....

I recently have filled out a C&R app and there was not a fingerprint card in it. As well I just mailed the CLEO the copy of the application.
