    FFL-3 license check ???

Is there any way to check to determine if someone's C&R license is valid?

Ask them for a copy. It has the expire date.

There is always the possibility that it has been revoked or surrendered. I know there is an online check for FFL-1's.

I'm guessing a call to the ATF is the only way to validate a C&R license.

If you "reasonably believe" (the gold standard of law) that the license is valid, you should not face any legal action for honoring it, if it turns out in the end to be bogus.

We aren't the government, and it's not our job to do background checks on everyone we deal with. If someone sends you a copy of their 03FFL, and their driver's license, and you reasonably believe them to be authentic, and the address you ship to matches the paperwork, then I would say you have taken reasonable precautions and made a reasonable effort to follow the law, and would not be held liable.

Those are just my thoughts. I am not a lawyer...

            Yes there is.

You can verify that a C&R FFL is valid by calling the BATFE EZ-Check phone number...1-877-560-2435...and giving them the license number and the address on the license. You have to call because the online EZ-Check system does not work for C&R FFL's.
