An M1 Garand every 2.083 Minutes?

    Gentlemen,
If I did my numbers right it does come out to be one (1) M1 Garand every TWO (2) MINUTES. I don't know if the Winchester M1's are in that rate of 3000 per day. Guys that is really moving along. At the time i.e. 1942 I don't think that there was any other power in WW 2 to have production rates anywhere near the USA. I think if we tried that today it might be hard to match. Look at the date.

Some data has been posted before others have not.

    Thanks again

wasn't Kaiser building ships in days instead of weeks? it's amazing what this country used to be capable of without all the modern constraints(like enviro, liability, media, etc). God Bless the USA!!
    thanks Clancy.

Ya know, I have several CMP M1 rifles. Nothing remarkable about them except they are old but beautiful. After refinishing their wood, cleaning 'em, practicing with 'em and shooting 'em I have to say they are unique in every quality of a rifle I can think of. Looking at the files Clancy has posted on the M1's history, knowing how they performed against a desperate and lethal enemy, knowing how many were made in one image, and how quickly, I can only surmise that there is more to this saga than just weapons design and manufacture. It was special at a time when it had to be. And that is something to think about.
