Bound Book for C & R
Tags: None -
I use a PDF file with form boxes where I type in them, and save the pages for electronic backups and print out copies for the actual hard book. Sleeved and put into a 3-ring binder.
Or you could go low tech and just use a spiral notebook and write your stuff down.

Same. Excel spreadsheet, printed. I'm low volume, 2 pages will last for a while.

I may have been misinformed, I was told the book literally had to be bound and that the three ring binder was not acceptable to the visiting DOJ boys...Comment

First, DOJ would not visit you. The ATF could, but not the DOJ.
Secondly: here's a question asked of the ATF:
Oct. 2005
Q: I was wondering about the ATF required bound book for C&R license
holders. Is it okay to use a loose leaf binder to hold pages? Is it okay to use electronic records (not printed)? Or does the book have to be a REAL bound book, like a journal?
A: A "bound book" is a permanently bound book or an orderly arrangement of loose-leaf pages which must be maintained on the business premises. In either event, the format must follow that prescribed in the regulations and the pages must be numbered consecutively. [27 CFR 178.125]
The Government does not sell a record book for licensees to use in
recording their receipts and dispositions of firearms. Certain trade
associations have them available at nominal cost. Your supplier should
be able to tell you about this.
The Regional Director (Compliance) or other designated ATF official must approve a request for a recordkeeping variance before the licensee may use a computer system in lieu of the "bound book" record required by the regulations. You do actually need a letter to only keep your records electronically.

Yup, I use the same one. Printed a dozen copies off and stuck in a 3-ring binder. I'm not a large collector so that'll probably last me half my life.

I made pages for myself. I print in on 11x17 paper, fold it in half, then hole-punch it and stick it in a 3-ring binder.

If anyone wants a PDF feel free to PM me

I bought two books from RK Enterprises. They have one for C&R purchases and one for everything else. I really like the books and recommend them to anyone. They are mail order only and I forgot how much I paid for them. If you are interested their phone number is: (805) 687-1416, located in Santa Barbara.Comment

i got permission from the ATF to use electronic records, so i use this: http://www.nmcollector.net/nmguncollector/index.htm
it's really great software, especially for the price (brownells on a dealer discount). And even if you don't get ATF permision, you can use it (just print out your C&R log and put it in a binder)Originally posted by Kestryllwe can not nor should not dismiss or discount my theory that in the dark of night you molest sea anemones by candlelight.Originally posted by TKMShow me on this 1st Amendment bobble-head doll where the mods touched you.Originally posted by Click BoomIt is clear from this thread that citadel grad was the gunman, and Oswald his patsy.Comment
