Help identifying old shotgun

My friend recently inherited a Browning "Light Twelve" from his grandfather. It is a semi-auto and it is in great shape. Can someone help us get an idea of how old it is and a ballpark value, not that he is going to sell it, just curious. Also there is a strange mark on the right side of the reciever, it is a "PV" with an arrow pointing down and what looked like a lion.
