                C&R california restrictions

Your C&R is only useful if you are purchasing long guns that are on the BATF C&R list from out of state. Your purchase can be shipped to you from the out of state dealer or C&R holder. C&R listed Pistols can be had with your C&R only if you take posesion personally while outside Calif and bring it home with you. No shipping on pistols. You then have to do some california paperwork for the pistol after you have brought it home. Your C&R is not usable for any purchase inside the state unless you have a Certificate of Elegability issued by Calif. Be aware that there are quite a few guns listed on the BATF C&R list that are not considered C&R's by Calif. SKS and the Indian made enfields are an example. Hope this helps.

Note quite true. Long guns shipped in from out of state need to be defined as C&R and be at least 50 years old. And they don't need to be on the BATF C&R list in order to be considered C&R. Just being over 50 years old makes them C&R without being on the list.

They can also be shipped to you from out of state unlicesed persons as well as in state unlicenesd persons.

All guns classified as C&R by the Feds are also classified as C&R by California. Just because a C&R FFL can't have a certain gun shipped to them here doesn't mean the gun isn't C&R here. And there are plenty of SKS's and Indian made Enfields that are over 50 years old anyway.

The California C&R definition is exactly the same as the Federal. California references 27CFR and Title 18 for the definition. Also, in order for a C&R FFL holder in California to order C&R rifles or shotguns from out of state, the firearm has to be a C&R and over 50 years old. Most firearms over 50 years old are automatically C&R and do not have to be on the Federal list.

Oops! It seems that I duplicated Ammendment II's posting. Next time I'll read the whole thread before posting.
