    marlin golden 39a?

traded off a mosin nagant and got a marlin golden 39a, circa 1957. it's got a fair amount of surface rust, and it sure was dirty, but it operates perfectly fine so far. got her cleaned up internally, and everything functions well, and looks like it hasnt been fired a whole heck of a lot. gonna take some elbow grease to get rid of the rust, and maybe will have some pitting left, but i like it! its perfect for shooting in the garage, with super colibris or cb's. a friend of mine brought a couple old rimfires over for me to take a look at, check function and whatnot, and after i had expressed my fondness for it, he offered it in trade for a mosin. so after a drivers license check and some bound book entries, it was all set!

so, my question is, what are these babies worth? i thought it was a pretty fair deal, my 91/30s are all cherry, and the one i gave the guy was the smoothest of the bunch, with all matching numbers, including the bayonet. i dont know anything about marlin lever guns. but the serial number shows it was made in 57-58, and ive got 2 hours into it so far, will probably be another 4 hours for the surface rust, and i am going to get a replacement buttpad, the one on it is broken in a couple places, and missing some chunks. if i can find a factory buttpad, im going to throw it on. otherwise, ill just leave it.... im happy with the trade, and im sure my buddy is, as well. i dont plan to resell the rifle, just curious as to their value...

Decent ones go for $350-$500. Yours is worth more than the MN.
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Some idiots are too busy knowing it all to ever learn anything
