Something Doesn't Look Right

I know a bit about k98k mausers, not much about the sniper rigs, but this one doesn't look right at all.

Not to mention how clean the rifle looks, as though it's been refinished along with the others this chap is selling.

He has high expectations.

Definitely looks too clean, but the Zf41 scope was used quite a bit throughout the war. This was the "marksman" rifle that the Germans went to war with in Poland and France. They didn't really upgrade till after they fought the Soviets.

I'd say it has been refinished at the least. This could be a correct rifle but I stayed away from German firearms just because there are so many forgeries out there.

The eye relief though, the placement of how far forward the scope is, doesn't look very pleasant to shoot, that's what has me wondering and of course it's too clean too.

Stock has been heavily, I mean heavily sanded, sanding scratches are still visible. Claims matching numbers but no pictures to verify claim.

German sniper rifles (and the ZF41 isn't even a real sniper rifle, it was for the designated marksman) are a minefield that hucksters love to exploit. Generally best to avoid unless you enjoy being scammed out of a lot of money.

its a Replica Zf41 Sharpshooter Rifle, probably built up from an RC, worth $800-1000 if you had it made up yourself. Anytime they don't give you close up pictures of the code, year and markings its probably a made up sniper.

Like someone said: pimped up like a Mitchell's Mauser.
Repro ZF41 scopes and mounts are available and then there is that handguard which appears to be made of beech. Also appears to have the Russian serial sanded off the buttstock. Note the old (2008) photo dates and pretty much useless photos.

Looked at the rest of his stuff for sale and would not touch any of it for a quarter of the prices he is asking.
