    My new Luger

I got this from a guy and it was his Dad's, that past on. He was in his 90's and was in WWII, plus a retired FBI agent. His son didn't like guns and just wanted to get rid of it, so I got it for $100

It's got a little rust in the end of the barrel but it still shoots good.

I'll give you $200 for it

You practically stole that from the kid. That's the deal of a century right there.

$100.00 Wow! I think the holster is worth more than that!

      Heck of a deal! Enjoy!

I'd say you did damn good, here's some information for you from a book I have listed the title below also.

The Mauser 42 Code Four-digit Date model was made specifically for military sales to Germany.

            Three distinguishing features:

            1. Toggle is marked "42"
            2. The chamber has a four-digit year date, either 1939 or 1940.
            3. No Kriegsmarine property number on the grip strap.

            Approximately 133.700 dated 1940

            Rarity is common.

            Manufactured; Mauser Werke, Oberndorf.

            Sieral number range:

            7700x to 7000n dated 1940.

            Poor $450
            Fair $650
            Good $950
            VG $1,800
            EXC $2,500

This information is from Standard Catalog of Luger 2006.

I did this at the range, five rounds off hand at 7yrds, which is pretty good for me with my old eyes

I'm really glad the son sold it to you. Since he "didn't like guns and just wanted to get rid of it" he could just have easily turned it in at one of those gun buybacks http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=251597 and it probably would have been destroyed. Congratulations and enjoy!
                            Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Ok, will have to re-research that.

This puts it one page over to something more rare perhaps, those German numbers throw me off, the one looks like a seven in some respects.
