      Return it to SOG.
Order the K98 from Classic Arms. The cost for K98 is about the same, and the owner, Ben, will tell you everything about the rifle you are buying, including the bore condition.

I mean I just got it at about 2:30pm PST, I was so dissapointed I had to share with someone, SOG was closed. I will try and get some decent photos to post. I will be returning it to SOG, they say they stand behind their advertisements and name. I have read other posts that state they are legit, so I don't expect to have problems receiving a full refund including shipping charges.

I got one of the recent Classic K98s and I'd rank it as good with minor issue. It isn't horrible (nice markings and decent bluing) but the bore is pretty rough. It is counterbored at the end and you can tell from running a bore brush down it that the gun has seen some hard miles. And even after cleaning everything up, the action on this RC K98 is much, much rougher than on my other 2 Mausers. I think Classic has done a much nicer job over the past couple of weeks of posting the condition of the bores than they did with the first batch of TG K98s. The early descriptions were mustly whether the gun was laminated/hardwood and cupped/flat buttplate. With the occasional "pretty" rifle getting $10 more and all matching getting $20 more.

Externally, my Classic K98 was very nice. I'll try and figure out how to post pics. I just wish they were listing bore condition a month ago. I'd have paid $20 more to get one that was excellent (especially when I was buying a rifle priced right in the middle of the price range... which to me implied good all around just not "pretty" or matched bbl/receiver/stock). Better to buy one now vs last month for the descriptions. Or maybe buy a 44 instead of a 42 for bbl condition.

Or you could wait to see if Empire gets more. Pricey but you'll know you are getting a nice rifle.

I picked one from Classic in Nov for $249 from description on the web site. Ben sent me a 1940 with no bayonet lug. I complained about it. He told me he just went by the marking from TN Gun on the outside of the box. None in Classic did really look at each rifle.

He promised me an exchange with no other fee. In fact, he charged me $10 for handpicking the replacement and about $20 for the shipping. I also paid the UPS from CA to NC. I ended up spent $60 more to fix his error.

                  Ouch!

Sounds like a not so good experience.
Glad my experience was no like that.
Just to add more detail to the one I got from Classic, it was "handpicked" for stock and chamber condition. I specified cupped an laminated. A little gunky when it got here but cleaned up nicely just don't have pix of that. Here are some pix from the initial inspection. Note the typical, sloppy mess of shelac fromt the russian rework. That's gone now...

You quickly can get to the point where you'll get punished in shipping if you are unhappy. 1step, I'm glad you had a good experience; that is a nice looking gun.

Here are some early pics of mine.

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with Classic.
Here is one I got from Classic Arms last year... A nice S42/G with the kriegsmodell stock (an incorrect but much sought after stock, by the way). I remove the red shellac and put on a coat of tung oil. The bore is excellent.

WOW! Called SOG this morning, talk about Customer Service. They offered options, I advised them I was looking for a CE Code and this is probably the best they have in that code, so I will take the refund. They will provide a full refund and asked me to include a copy of the UPS fee I will be incurring to send it back. They are 100% guaranteed.

I was impressed, the only out for me is a trip to UPS which is no big deal. I expected to loose return shipping, I will definetly do business with SOG again.

As pointed out I was looking for a specific CODE "CE" SIG, this was probably the best they had in that code. I will do business again with them just because companies like this need to be supported for Customer Service they provide.
