    Mosin Head Space Question

    So...
    I bought a Big 5 Mosin.
    Cleaned it up.
Bore is a bit pitted, no worries.
Checked firing pin with go/no-go gauge---->good to go.
Got 20 rounds for the range....ready to go...but...

    Head space...
    Checking head space is important.
    I understand why.
But is there another way to check other than buying a gauge?
I don't want to be cheap, but I am so excited to get to the range.
Is there another way to check without the gauge, other than hot gas in the face?

Don't worry about the head space for the Mosin. The go, nogo calibration on the bolt is the only necessity

      this.

as long as your pin doesnt protrude too far you're fine.

i got my first C&R gun, a big5 mosin, exactly a year ago. now i have 12 rifles in the safe. good luck and welcome aboard, have a seat over there.

and...um...you should need a lot more than 20rds!

You will be surprised at how many rounds you will go through while at the range! I would get a couple hundred at least.
