    Mauser rear sight

I was just given a very nice mauser. The guy told me it was an M98/22 but It is not. Its definatly Turkish and it says 1903 German 8mm on the barrel. It has a really nice tiger stock, the only reason I took the rifle to be honest.
I havent shot the rifle yet but while cleaning and inspecting it I realised the rear sight ladder does not sit flush to the barrel. It hits the upper handguard. The guy told me it shoots high but I now see why as its lowest setting is actually 300m. I also noticed the sight ladder looks to be slightly bent.
Out of curiosity, I removed the sight ladder from my m24/47 and it fits perfect as it is shorter. It does not hit the wood and is not bent. I went straight to gunbroker and ebay and neither one has a 24/47 rear sight. What other mauser use the same sight ladder as the 24/47?

      Rear sight

Why dont you just relieve the wood for the rear of the sight with a chisel/gouge?

were talking about a $100-$150 shooter

I would if that were the only problem with the rear sight. Seeing as it is also bent and needs to be replaced I figure I might as well put one on that appears to fit properly.
