    Another C & R question

Don't flame me guys, I did try a search on this subject before asking, but didn't see anything that answered my inquiry directly.

    As a 03 holder, can I transfer a C & R rifle to my son who just turned 18?
Rifle was purchased with DROS at Big 5 prior to my being licensed.

Do I signed it out in my bound book even though it was not entered?

    Thank you,
    Jeff

yes, you can transfer any CA-legal long gun to your son. Your 03 does not affect the allowability of the transfer.

regarding your bound book, you should log in the rifle as "acquired pre-license" or words to that effect, and then log it out to your son. You ARE licensed, you don't USE your license, and ATF regs state that you are to log all licensed activity.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Having an 03 FFL can affect transfers to your children. An 03 FFL is not allowed to transfer a C&R long gun to their child who is under the age of 18 or a C&R handgun to their child who is under the age of 21. But yes, in this case it doesn't affect the transfer since the son is 18 years old.
