    BOLO: 8 stolen M1 Garand

While the theft did not occur here in Kalifornia, I know how the gun market kind of works and thought it might be possible that if they didn't show up here, that word could be spread around.

Retrieved from my car fourm, which was captured from ODCMP. Post date there was Jan 23, 2007.

I am the Commander of the Color/Honor Guard for a Veterans Service Organization called the Metro Marines in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. We are a group of about 300 US Marines active, retired and discharged that aid the Corps in recruiting, Toys for Tots and the like.
The Color Guard presents a presence in Parades, funerals and other patriotic functions during the year. You may, in fact, have heard the poem "I've been called home " which is being read at many of the Marine Corps funerals now. This was written by one of our Color Guard. I am a member of the Garand Collectors association and thought it might help if you had the following knowledge.

My reason for writing you is that we owned 8 M 1Garand's which were stolen this past week. We had just finished retro fitting them to accept blank adaptors and re-doing the gas ports to make the able to function at ceremonial firings. I will list the serial numbers in hopes that you can pass the word on these weapons. Any help you can give us would be most helpful.

Depends. It may have been a die hard C&R guy who was flipping out over the fact that they're making changes to the rifles... in which case he'd only get mild purgatory, provided he was only trying to "keep them safe" and not profit off of them.

Doesn't really matter where he goes. We all know that the gates of heaven are guarded by United States Marines, so even if the theif makes it to heaven he's gonna get his ***** kicked before he gets inside.

If it is a C&R idiot try to save guns, then I believe it's much worse than a regular thief. Some MORON C&R ZEALOT taking guns that are to be used in funeral or other ceremony is as dumb as it gets. Tell a dead Marines family or kids at a parade that the thief was really trying to do something good when he took the guns. Very twisted logic. Perfectly absurd to think that a thief of that sort is somehow not as bad as a thief out for profit.
