Anybody here from Hayward and applied for a C&R license? Who did you send it to?

I lived in Hayward when I first applied for a C & R. I just sent a copy of my application along with a cover letter to the Chief of Police. Got his name and address off the city's web site. No problems.

I'm in Hayward too. I'll be sending my app in next week to the Hayward chief.

IIRC, you just have to send a copy of the C&R app with a cover letter saying something like "Here is a copy of my C&R application, per Federal law. No other action is needed on the part of your office."

The CLEO gets a copy, but doesn't actually have anything to do with it.

          That's how I understand it, though I haven't gone after a C&R license... yet.

I should have included a cover leter, as they have confused the form I sent them for an 01 FFL application.
If they have a reason to object to the license, they speak with the batfe. Their copy is fyi only, cleo's do not approve the application, nor can they deny it if you're otherwise legally qualified. Zoning and business licenses do not apply...you are not allowed to run a business with a c&r. Stay cool, wait for the license in the mail.

I would skip the cover letter. Confusion is their issue, not yours.

              Agree 100%!
3 years ago interim Hayward CLEO tried to deny my application. BATFE informed him he was mistaken.
Permanent CLEO in position now. He probably saw it as a application to sell firearms. They seem to get "disposal" and "sell" confused.
I just sent my renewal in last week, I have not heard anything yet.
How long did it take between sending letter and vise contacting you?
              BATFE is on your side.
